The New Baby's Here!

Wisdom of Your Child's FaceThe New Baby’s Here! Today is the birthday for my new book! With endorsements from Louise L. Hay and Dr. Christiane Northrup, The Wisdom of Your Child’s Face is the guide to discovering your child’s true nature!

People joke that your child doesn’t come with a user’s manual, but they’re wrong. It’s written in their face and all you have to do is learn to read it. The secrets of your child’s inner nature and personal potential are eloquently inscribed in the curve of their cheeks, the shape of their eyes, the contour of their brows, the unique language of their original design.

One mother used face reading to recognize a message in her daughter’s features and made a needed change in how she handled bedtime rituals; another discovered new ways to handle her child’s picky eating habits. A teacher in a recent workshop realized she could spot kids’ learning styles by reading their faces. And one father learned why his son needed a far more gentle method of discipline than he’d been brought up with himself. Cleft chin? Sticking-out ears? Large eyes? Every feature has a message about who your child is inside!

Chinese face reading is an ancient branch of Chinese medicine which teaches that each child is born with a personal blueprint that is theirs and theirs alone, and that this inner architecture can be read in the features of their face.

When you can read your child’s face, you can discover their true nature. You can understand their special gifts, know what their personal challenges will be, and see how to guide them in a way that is perfect for their unique needs.

You’ll be able to recognize what they need from you in order to feel safe and loved; and you’ll be empowered as a parent to raise them with less stress, more joy, and the confidence that you’re helping them fulfill their special purpose in the world!

Recent research in child development has discovered is that the greatest predictor of success in life for your child is not how much praise you give them, or even how many times you say “I love you,” though of course that certainly matters!

In fact, the single most powerful predictor of happiness and success in life is how much your child feels recognized and understood by you. And sometimes that’s not so easy – to know why your child is really feeling the way they are, or the true reason for their behavior, to understand who your child really is inside.

I'm a parent – and I learned very quickly that my son was not just a miniature replica of me! He had his own personality, his own temperament, and his own inner world, which I was always working to understand better.

The Wisdom of Your Child’s Face shows you the meaning of each feature on your child’s face and gives you amazing insights into the natural wisdom of their own inner design. If you can know your child’s true nature, you can help them flourish, both in childhood and on into adult life.

You can compare it to working with a blueprint – If you’re building a house, you’d of course consult the blueprint, to know where to put the walls and doors, where to place the electrical system and plumbing! If you follow the blueprint, the house will function well and stand strong for a very long time.

It’s the same with a child – if you have access to their blueprint, you can help them create a life in alignment with that plan, so they can grow into the most successful, open-hearted and authentic expression of their true self!

As I worked on this book, I interviewed both parents and children, and when I talked with the adults, my last question would always be, “If you could send a message back in time to your own parents, about the best way to raise you, what would it be?”

And time and time again, I'd get some version of this reply: “I just wish they’d trusted who I really was.”

This is the purpose of my book – to empower you to know who your child really is inside and how to make them feel totally recognized, and totally loved.

And frankly, even if you don’t have a child in your life, this book may give you insights and clarity about your own childhood, and new ways to integrate your history and come into your own.

Your Guilty Pleasure? Celebrity Dish

My work isn't about reading celebrities’ faces, but it can be valuable to use them as a kind of teaching tool because we're all so familiar with their appearance and because they often represent archetypal images for us. So with that intent in mind, here are some observations about famous people in the news lately!

Jaden SmithJaden Smith
The talented son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, Jaden is turning into a major movie star in his own right. But his face shows that the reason he’s drawn to perform is not out of any desire for attention or fame. Instead, there’s a lot going on in his inner world, and that is the source of his strength as an actor. His domed forehead shows a highly imaginative spirit, with a strong creative drive that comes from deep inside.

His upper eyelids partly cover his eyes, which is a sign of a private person, and one who doesn’t let just anyone in. In his life, he won’t wear his heart on his sleeve; he may be more reserved or slower to trust, but also more realistic about who people really are. And once he trusts you, he trusts you forever.

His eyebrows are straight lines and the shape of his eyes is what’s called “rectangular.” Both are indicative of someone who’s practical and who values logic He’s not an aggressive guy, but definitely confident and determined, and with a wonderfully logical mind to balance his rich emotional world. But by far the overall message his face gives is of an artist who’ll have a lot to offer for many years to come.

Sarah FergusonSarah Ferguson
The scandal that’s shot Sarah back into the news has revealed a lot. Most people were shocked to discover how little she receives each year for support since her divorce (reportedly only about $21,000). And many have admired her behavior since the news broke – she’s continued to fulfill her commitments for appearances, made a few humorous comments at her own expense, and even showed up on Oprah rather than hide or cover up.

When I look at her face, one of the first things I see is her red hair and freckles, and there points to several of her features, all indicating someone with a great sense of humor, and the need to communicate and clarify. These also show the ability to not be knocked down for long by adversity; she can soon pick herself up and carry on. These aspects of her face even show the potential to end up in the spotlight in some way, which she certainly has!

But her face also reveals some troubling signs. She’s developed what are called “Lack Lines” – vertical lines in her lower cheeks – which mean she has deep feelings of not having enough of something in her life. This can be not enough money, as well as not enough affection, even worry about not being good enough personally. The inner corners of her eyebrows also come down close to her eyes, which show someone who has a strong inner critic and will tend to be hard on themselves.

Her lower face also shows her potential to develop a pattern of feeling victimized in some way, and as a result feeling bitter and resentful. In her case, these feelings may well have been due to the raw deal she ended up with after her divorce, but this tendency would have shown up in her life in some way no matter what events transpired. The most important thing to understand is that this means she could feel justified to behave unethically to get what she wants, because she thinks she’s “owed,” that no one has given her what she deserved. She’ll also tend to overspend, and overeat, because of an inherent need to feel “full.”

But another aspect of my work includes looking at the imprint on your inner nature that happened on the date of your birth. This is not covered in my books – I only teach it in my workshops. When you look at this additional information for Sarah, her inherent sense of feeling unappreciated and mistreated is actually enhanced, almost ensuring that it would result in behavior that would negatively affect her relationships. This is a woman who needs strong supportive people in her life, but who will tend to create difficulty with friends and family by being demanding or controlling.

This same quality also reveals that her statement that the death of her best friend Diana was a devastating experience is very true, far more for her than it would have been for another kind of person. For her, feeling alone is terribly upsetting. I hope now that those close to her show up in a powerful way to support her and help her come back into balance in life.

Lindsay LohanLindsay Lohan
Lindsay’s natural hair color is red, and her skin is full of freckles – these and a few other characteristics of her face indicate very strongly an archetype I call the Performer/Free Spirit, whose priority is to have FUN, to seek excitement and stimulation, and to live in the moment without much consideration for the consequences of her actions. And she’s certainly living this out right now!!

The inner corners of her eyes (the inner canthus) are very pointed, which signify someone who excels in communications, especially verbal, but who can be quite sharp with her words when she’s upset. Her uneven hairline indicates a very stressful time during adolescence, and that’s still affecting her now. Her face shows that she may not begin to recover from her experience of childhood and adolescence until age 26-27, at the very earliest. Frankly, her struggles may continue through her 30’s, which is when she’ll be given a chance to come to terms with her inner demons whether she wants to or not.

Her rounded upper forehead reveals an imaginative person, who may be working out some family karma in her life, even aside from her own. Her strong cheeks verge on what the Chinese call “Bossy Cheeks” – someone who’ll certainly be able to speak up for what she wants, and even to be demanding and needy in relationships.

Lindsay actually has a quite vulnerable emotional nature, and I think that on some level, she longs to learn how to achieve a peaceful heart, rather than one that doesn’t know how to settle and feel safe in life.

Get Curious About A Wrinkle

Most of the wrinkles on your face are signs of lessons learned and wisdom gained in life, and you’d never want to get rid of those! But there are other kinds of wrinkles that have a different message. They reveal patterns of thought and emotion which may actually be contributing to keeping you stuck in life. It can be so valuable to discover the meaning behind this kind of wrinkle, so you can be empowered to make a positive change.

Every time you feel an emotion, your face forms a micro-expression, often for just a fraction of a second. A wrinkle can develop when you have the same thought or feeling over and over throughout your days, and thus make the same expression repeatedly as well. If this same feeling comes up again and again as you move through life, you will slowly carve a wrinkle into your face.

One easy way to learn what a wrinkle may be associated with is to use adhesive tape! Choose a span of time when you can be alone, and place a piece of adhesive tape on the wrinkle. Then wear it for a few hours. When you notice the tape pull, that means you’re making the facial expression associated with the wrinkle.

In that moment, stop and ask yourself: What am I thinking about? What am I feeling? It’s very likely you’ll begin to notice a pattern of emotion, or that every time you feel the tape pull, you’re thinking about the same person or same problem.

A woman who’d been to one of my workshops noticed her son was developing a wrinkle on his forehead and explained the concept to him. He was curious and volunteered to do the “tape trick” for an afternoon. They were both amazed to discover that every time he felt the tape pull, he was thinking about his stepfather, who tended to be overly critical and too strong a disciplinarian. His mother realized that their rocky relationship was having deeper implications than she’d known. This was the tipping point that made her decide family counseling was important, and looking back years later, she said this was the best decision she could have made.
